the singapore dis-popular culture

just a mean spin hoping to be a future money making post
dispopular (not to be confused with unpopular) means
to be popular or popularised in a way that is not approved
or condescended upon by society. rather think of it as what
infamy did for the un-famous through whatever dumb act
they did. (yes you didnt find it in the dictionary since i just
coined it after being bored out of my mind sitting on the couch).
And back to it. singapore has lots of dispopular stuff just
waiting for us to cash in on such misfortunes ( i should play
devils advocate since cuando el diablo no tiene que hacer,
con el rabo mata moscas-he found work for my idle mind)
for example our famous tammy. because of all our traditional
and prudish and holier-than-thou attitude this small matter
has caused a stir which put some life in our economy and at last
benefitting our GDP.
let me explain. people go on the internet
for her video or send it by mms, newspapers print about the
deplorable state of the world and that debauched, desensitised
and did i say 'demonised' teenagers are having sex. (surprise,
surprise indeed right?) and did i mention that rubbish reporter
edwin making a quick buck about this as well? so while everyone
says that its sad they cant get enough of it either. so we should
thank the couple for their honorary work in stimulating GDP
due to the increase in sale directly or indirectly the result of their
escapade.
so why shouldnt we cash in on it?
a shirt line which reads ' I'm just being INCONSIDERATE'
and an explosion of the words tammy underneath, eg,
tammy tammy tammy
tammy tammy
tammy tammy tammy
Afterall the person who would actually blush would be the prude
who reads it and not the couple after being insensitised to their
unwarrented celebrity. hey such shirts might actually sell to the angsty.
but as Tv media always goes, thats not all...
singapore will have limitless opportunities to cash in on some
gaffe or faux pas that doesnt go well with all our social rules, red tape,
white markers(out of bounders) and the like. hip hop, gangsterism,
poverty all make for nose-thumbing and derisory feelings that
time and time again come out due to the lack of tolerance in
singapore society. i think that we shouldnt be so closed in our minds
not to break in on such a market when someone else likely will
in future. i'll think about the developments some other day, kopi
talk anyone?
