she's left

sometimes and especially in my family, the needs of
displaced, disparate and hardly at home members
need a common rally point, and in this place the other
woman fits in. but before all goes up in an uproar about
promiscuous unfaithful spouses let me just say that no
'other' woman would be welcomed by a couple's children
if they were marriage breakers. especially when this position
at one time at home was filled by my grandma. yes,
i'm refering to people who are our alternate points of focus.
and so i present to you aunt leni. she's just left a few hours
ago and her absence eats into us all already. a missionary
by occupation ( not that its a job but it keeps her occupied,
the word is volunatary) shes someone who restores order
to this contentious place by distracting us from firing our
arrows at each other. she's whom i'd try to speak spanish
with. she'd be able to placate grandma since she speaks
indonesian. she dotes on both my brothers and she'll regale
my parents with stories of the mission field. so as a neutral,
she's easier to listen to and having her diverse background
she provides a refreshing point of view. hence conversations
and not shouting matches do occur when she's around and
the former more frequently than the latter instead of
vice-versa. she will be missed...
