the harder you try , the heavier your fall

just finished the 21km run yesterday. my first time
since i missed the aslc one due to an injury. never
figured my true time coz someone hit my watch
and it stopped, so i had to go by pace and considering
i was unprepared for the route, things went terribly.
i still got the medal but its no big deal since 10 000
probably did as well. looks like i can only console
myself with the fact that i did it despite an injury
but even then ego bruises are seldom easily soothed.
i must say that i love the experience of such a massive
race. i had company from the start to the end.
semi boxed in by the crowd i could only be as fast as
the next guy in front of me unless i expanded extra
energy to sidestep the crowd. only as good as our
environment until we rise above it? perhaps. willing
or able to put in the extra energy? it depends.
how much food stores? how much training? how much
water to inbibe during the race? some questions are
easier to answer than others, some have no definite
answers. inderdependent factors have to be scaled
while those concerning varying envionmental factors
are best tackled by a play-by-ear approach.

but one thing is for certain, if life resembles a massive
long distance race, then one is at his best running
against himself, and an empty road ahead with perhaps
a partner at the side.
